As well as holding regular luncheons and events The Newfoundland & Labrador Occupational Health & Safety association also sponsors annual activities throughout the year to promote Occupational Health and safety
Through an annual safety conference, we provide a forum for all sectors of industry to gather to share ideas, promote occupational health & safety, and to obtain information on new occupation health & safety products.
In 1993, NLOHSA in its endeavor to find a suitable medium through which it could pay respect to workers who have died in the course of their employment initialed an alliance with the St. Lawrence Heritage Society. The society had erected a monument called the "Echoes of Valour" and established a memorial garden with the monument as its centerpiece. NLOHSA financially supported the cost of a suitable structure (similar to the book of remembrance idea) to display the history of the monument. Commencing in 1994 NLIHSA has participated annually in an ecumenical service at the monument to mark the provincial day of mourning for fallen workers on April 28.
In 1993 NLOHSA in alliance with the St. Lawrence Heritage Society, established an annual scholarship available to all level III students in the province.
